What This Article Covers
This guide explains how to log in to the WordPress admin area of your new staging site — whether it's a copy of your live site or a brand-new blank site.
Before You Start
- Know whether your staging site is a clone of your live site (a copy for testing) or a new blank site (a fresh install).
- If you're not sure which type you have, check your support ticket or email — it will say.
Which type of staging site do you have?
Option A: My staging site is a clone of my live site
When we copy your live site to staging, your login details come with it. You don't need a new username or password.
-
Go to your staging site's admin login page.
Your support team will send you the direct link. It will look something like abc123def.nxcli.io/wp-admin.
-
Enter the same username and password you use on your live site.
Your staging site is an exact copy, so your existing credentials work here too.
-
If you've forgotten your password, click "Lost your password?" on the login page.
Enter your email address. WordPress will send you a link to create a new password.
Option B: My staging site is a new blank site
If we created a fresh WordPress site for you, your login details are stored in a secure link we sent you. We use a service called 1Password to share them safely.
-
Open the 1Password link from your support email.
Look for the link in your original setup email or support ticket. Click it to open the secure page.
-
Enter your email address when prompted.
1Password will send a short verification code to your inbox.
-
Check your email for the code, then enter it on the page.
This confirms it's really you before showing your credentials.
-
Copy your username and password and save them somewhere safe.
We recommend a password manager, a secure note, or your browser's saved passwords. This link expires in 30 days.
-
Go to your staging site's admin login page and sign in with the credentials you just saved.
Your support team will send you the direct link to the login page.
Common Questions
- I entered my live site password but it's not working on staging.
This can happen if your password was changed recently, or if the clone was made at a point when a different password was active. Use the "Lost your password?" link on the login page, or contact support for a quick reset.
- My 1Password link isn't working or has expired.
Links expire after 30 days. If yours has expired, contact support and we'll send a new one.
- Where do I go to log in?
Your support team will include the direct link in your setup email. If you can't find it, open a support ticket and we'll resend it.
